We are leaving Nepal after 30 days. And they were great days. Could have been a few less in Kathmandu though but we all loved it. Slowly I’m getting fed up of the rice and dhal but I guess I have to manage a few weeks longer.
We leave Nepal on a clear sunny day. Today is their highest festival Divali and we are not there, looking forward to a bit of it in India anyway – just to find out that they celebrated it yesterday…
We changed our mind about traveling to Kerala by land and decided to fly instead. This means that we’re going to miss Varanasi, but in the end I think it was the right decision with the kids. And what views we had of the Himalaya. I was already blown away by the Annapurna but had no imagination of how big the mountain range really was. Endless snowy peaks…
We almost missed our connection flight in Dheli. Imagine us four running through the airport from one end to the other. We must have looked so desperate that we were offered an airport “golf cart”.
When we arrived in Thiruvanamthapuram, the capital of Kerala, it was almost eleven p.m. and dark so there wasn’t much to see anymore. But the heat and humidity hit us unexpectedly. We knew it was going to be warmer but this was extreme. Luckily we were picked up by Kenan, our host, with a new car with air conditioning. Our room is okay but we were surprised there were no mossy nets… Good night for now, am starting to sweat again.
