Day 3: Longreach – Mount Isa: 648 km / 7 hrs
A long drive ahead but everyone is in good spirits. The road kill gets less. No more dead kangaroos. We see a giant bird of prey, but caught in surprise we forget to take a picture – which Bill still regrets. The landscape today doesn’t change much. Only towards the end it gets a bit hillier. Anik gets better at his maths tables. Bill gets stopped by police for speeding. It’s very hard to stick to 110 kmh especially when the roads are dead straight, hardly any traffic and being used to German autobahns. Luckily the police woman doesn’t want to ruin our holidays and we get away with a warning instead of a 400 $ fine. Surprisingly no flies in the mining town Mount Isa after an struggling fly lunch…
