Day 244: from Woomera to Melrose

Woomera, a social experiment: Build a town in the middle of nowhere in 1947, put 7000 people in – mainly American, British and Australian military and let them live happily together. But first get rid of all the Aborigines as the area was used for rocket and bomb testing. Sounds great, but now: only 150 people are left – on of them a happy French guy who has no real idea how he ended up here. Love?We didn’t come across a cheaper place though.Today we decide to drive as long as we feel like it and end up in Melrose. A quaint Aussi town in rural South Australia that offered a lot of walking and mountain biking tours. A reason to pitch out tents here.
