Day 252: Goodbye Donya, Mike, Bodhi and Zen

Once again and with tears in my eyes it’s time to say goodbye again. It’s very hard to leave as we all enjoyed being here. The kids had great company and plenty of toys and Bill and I had great conversations and laughs… But we’ll see you again one day!

We leave quite late – I wasn’t aware that we had to drive for almost seven hours. But we had booked a cabin in Burrinjuck. The first time we have to drive in dusk and dark. We stop at “Hungry Jack’s” (= Burger King) for a disgusting dinner and hurry on. We didn’t expect to hit a dirt track again. Where are we going to end up at? For the first time we see the very shy and rare Wombat, a fox and a rabbit. Off the motorway and straight back into nature and wildlife. The cabin turns into a little cottage but it’s so dark, we have to wait for the morning till we see where we are. And then the shock: my handbag’s gone. Can’t find it anywhere. Oh no, it must be an hours drive away at Hungry Jack’s. Panik, as all my money, credit card and Anik and my passport are in the bag. I grab Finn who has to join me on my way back, into the car and off we go again. But just 500 meters till I realize we need Bill’s credit card in case mine is gone and we will need petrol for the way back. So turn around and…. we stay. Bill talks to the campsite owners who call the fast food restaurant and my bag’s still there, waiting to be picked up tomorrow. So no night drive. Jippey!
