Our grand tour

Ocean safaris

Didn’t expect to be going on Safari again, but here we are, in a boat with ten other people on the “hunt”. The trip takes two hours, everybody is excited. Soon we see a pod of dolphins. Masks and fins on and off into the water. Luckily they are in a playful mood so we get to spend some time with them. It’s amazing how the dolphins swim around you, dissappear in the blue of the ocean just to show up again from deep below. I watch one dolphin who swims straight towards me, dives and turns belly up looking at me just two meters from below. But once the dolphins are gone there is nothing. You feel lost in all that blue around you.

What an amazing experience. Worth the trip although it is the only thing we see this time.

We get another chance to go onto the boat again for free. Finn, Anik and I can join our South African friends. And this time we have a camera on board. And we are lucky to see what most people come here for: a whale shark! What an incredible experience to be able to swim along right next to these giant gentle creatures. And Anik’s best friend Campbell is even filming it! Thank you man. This event makes our day. Seeing two more dolphins in the water, a turtle from the boat and for some even a manta ray makes the trip perfect. Just feel so sorry Bill couldn’t come as there was no space left on the boat. But five days later he gets his chance and tops it all: swimming with three whale sharks and two manta rays…

Can’t wait to go on safari again for Anik’s birthday…
