Our grand tour

Day 360 – 364: Vilanculo

We take a Tofo break and head on north to Vilanculo, another quite popular spot for tourists. Lets see what awaits us. We stay in little huts with awful communal toilets and a badly equipped, filthy kitchen but a bar with cheap food, pool tables and loud African music from morning till night. As bad as it sounds, we enjoyed our stay as there is always a bit of action, its  great spot for star gazing and the views were stunning.

The town itself is not touristy at all but a busy authentic African market town. We enjoy walking around and mingling with the people. Finn’s phone gets halfway fixed and he is so enthusiastic about it that he doesn’t mind waiting for ages at the little phone stall beside the road. The rest of us can’t really share his patience. But unfortunately still no WhatsApp.

The beach is different here too. More fishermen an their boats, more rubbish, no waves and shallow waters so the tide goes in and out for kilometres. Not ideal for swimming butĀ great forĀ the boys who love catching little crabs.
