Day 201: tourist sights

Today we acted as real tourists and went to Cathedral Cove and the Hot Water Beach. It’s weird to see all these masses of people again. But the sights were worth it.

Cathedral Cove

For those who like pink sand…

The unique Hot Water Beach: There’s one special beach in New Zealand where at a small part a underground river of hot water flows from the interior of the earth to surface in the Pacific Ocean.
Two hours either side of low tide crowds of visitors flock to the usually deserted Hot Water Beach to find hot water bubbling through the golden sand. Families, kids and couples can been seen digging their own spa pool in the sand to lie back in and relax while the steam from their hot pool envelops them. We just weren’t prepared for that many people, but at one point we were able to blend them out and enjoy. But you have to be careful, it’s easy to get burnt!
