Our grand tour

Day 303: Tsodilo Hills

New destination: the world heritage site “Tsodilo Hills”. These are three hills in the absolute flat Kalahari with the biggest being 1410 meters high and therefore it is the biggest mountain in Botswana. (We are on ground level 1005 m.) The hills are a sacred place to the San people and are famous for the many rock paintings some of which are dated back 20 000 years!

We arrive at the campsite of this mystic place late afternoon. There’s nobody there except us. After setting up our camp we go for a little stroll and are fascinated by the “glowing hills” and the paintings. You can really feel the magic.

The night is darker than dark. An amazing sky with millions of stars and pitch black around us that seems to swallow any light. It’s cold again!
