We do a two hours guided walk around the female (the mountains/hills are called “male”, “female” (who is male’s girlfriend) and the “child”. We see a lot of paintings, an old used cave, a former settlement area, weird trees and we meet a couple who turned out to be angles in disguise. They are fascinated by Bill’s drawing in the sand trying to explain the Fibonacci sequence to the boys. By talking to them they mention that they have a farm with a tented sight. The three dancing penises.
Bill’s trying out an old game at an ancient grinding stone.
Some climbing involved
And that’s where we end up by the end of the day. In Askiesbos (which means “sorry bush” because trees had to be cut down) near Shakawe at the banks of the Okawango River. We have a hut fitted with a kitchen, a dining table and a sofa area all to ourselves. Great to have, especially as our fridge is not working anymore. And we have an outdoor shower right at the Okawango river.
We are warned not to walk around at night, as hippos come out grazing. We don’t see them but we hear them very closely.
