We’re getting used to Mozambique. It’s completely different from all the other countries we have been so far, and it’s the first country neither Bill nor I have ever visited before. Everybody speaks Portuguese here, and English is not very common. It’s poorer that the other African countries we have been to and more tropical. You can see palm, coconut and papaya trees everywhere and many roads are just sandy and very bumpy.

We live in a suburb of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. It’s a safe, clean place which is located near a huge landfill but with a lovely and very helpful host. Noleen drives us everywhere we need to – to the supermarket, the beach, to a lovely local food stall, a phone shop to buy a sim card and to try to get my phone fixed, which is not loading any more, the market to get me some henna and Finn some flip flops, her office, where we try to find out how we can extend our visas when time comes. She even organizes a trip to Tofo, our next destination, for us. Thank you so much Nolie, we will be back.
